“Once she learns her anxiety’s intention and purpose, she no longer fears its presence” - Dr. Q.

What’s in the name? Anxiety.

Are you tired of feeling anxious?  Feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the fear of losing control?

While anxiety is a common feeling, you are not your anxiety.  Some days it feels like your anxiety just takes the reigns. Your anxiety decides who to text back, what to say, what not to say. It decides where you go or who you see. Some days before you even open your eyes in the morning, your heart is already racing, your mind is smothered by thoughts, and you find yourself bracing for some impending doom.

You have tried many avenues to find relief but nothing seems to work. You have truly done your best to figure this out on your own or perhaps even tried therapy before. Nothing seemed to work. A part of you worries that you are stuck with this anxiety for life, while another part of you know it can get better. You are sicked and tired of feeling bogged down, overwhelmed, losing out on opportunities, or consumed with worry.

You just want to take back the reign and tame your anxiety.

How Do We Tame Anxiety?

Learn its name.

The first step is to understand what is causing your anxiety. Sometimes it’s easy to spot but at times, it can feel like “it comes out of nowhere.” We will work together to identify the triggers to your anxiety, how it gets stronger, and when to do something about it.

Understand its purpose.

Anxiety has a purpose as it makes us human. Once we name it, we want to understand its intention, why is it telling us. Additionally, understanding the specific purpose of your anxiety will allow you to minimize the pain in which it is associated.

Take control.

After being able to know its name and its intention, we can now start taking control. Taking control will allow us to feel better in our body, enhance focus, react to anxiety in a healthy manner, and most importantly, live in the moment.

Phobias

Do you experience intense fear of certain objects or situations? Even the thoughts of the specific image or sound of the words make your skin crawls, your heart tightens, and your breath shortens? You keep finding yourself avoiding these scary objects or scenarios but others seem to not have the same reaction. At times, you may even think to yourself “It sounds ridiculous! Why do I have this kind of reaction?”

Whatever your fear is, you can learn to conquer it and live a life with less distress. Let’s reclaim power over your fear so you can go back to living your life with more peace and freedom!

Agoraphobia

One of the most debilitating phobias of them all is the fear of the places and situations. The fear is usually associated with a sense of helplessness under a number of situations or locations. You may find yourself avoiding going outside fearing you may lose control of your mind, your body, or you may get hurt without knowing how to help yourself. People with Agoraphobia, often spend much of their life at home and unable to engage in their world.

Other Specific Phobias

There are some of us who is highly fearful of a specific object or situation so much so that we will avoid any life circumstance where the feared object is involved. Some of these fears are so unique that they often go unnoticed like fear of clouds (nephophobia), fear of chickens (alektorophobia), or fear of names (Anomatophobia). However, some of the common fears can cause significant hindrance in life such as fear of tight spaces (Claustrophobia), fear of flying (aerophobia), or fear of thunder and lighting (Astraphobia).
