FAQs

How long is each session?

For Individual and couple therapy, the initial session or often known as the “intake” can last up to 50 minutes. This will often involve a lot of questions to help us establish goals and direction for therapy.

The follow-up sessions are 45 minutes long.

For Group therapy, each session is 75 minutes long.

How long will therapy take?

The duration of therapy will be depending on your goals and needs. Therapy is a robust process with many moving parts and skills development. Like any skills, efficiency and mastery will take time.

We can have some idea of the duration of therapy once we establish goals and processes.

Do you provide medication?

I do not prescribe medication. I do recognize the utility of medication. If you have a psychiatrist or a medical provider, I am happy to collaborate with them.

In some cases, medication may be used to complement therapy and we can discuss this in great detail of how and when we will utilize a medication consult with a psychiatrist.

Do you provide other services not mentioned?

I have extensive experience in other mental health conditions and some may not be listed under the services section. Please reach out to me to see if you have a specific need.

Is online therapy as effective as in person?

Online therapy or tele-therapy has been proven to be as effective as in-person therapy. During the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, I have strictly done tele-therapy with great success.

I worry about my privacy online. Is it safe?

At Adaptive Mind, we use an encrypted platform that meets the professional standard for privacy and safety. All of your records and data will be stored using HIPAA compliant procedures.
